REMNANTS explores color and pattern through image text and wax. I have always been drawn to physical history; old books, boxes and other fodder. Found materials worn by experience, or new materials created through deconstructing or manipulation have been a constant thread through my art. When I was introduced to the encaustic process, I knew this was the binder for my work. I was captivated by its ancient history and am challenged by its process. Layer upon layer of pattern and color are encased in wax and resin preserving its place. |
